The purpose of the visit is to understand how SKF uses Japan-inspired principles/tools (TPM, JIT, Kaizen, TQC, etc.) to ensure its competitiveness, address operational excellence, quality and related issues.
25 years ago, the EU-Japan Centre began running courses in Japan on world-class manufacturing (TPM, TPS, JIT, Kaizen, TQC, etc.).
6 years ago we supplemented this with one-day lean visits to different sites in Europe.
These visits are led for us by Prof. Richard Keegan (Trinity Business School, Dublin) who is an expert on lean and operational excellence.
Although the SKF visit will take place on 28 November in Avallon, all the participants will meet in Paris at CDG airport on 27 November.
We’ll arrange a coach transfer during which Prof. Keegan will lead a discussion around lean issues.
We’ll have a group dinner in Avallon and the visit will take place the following morning. Prof. Keegan will lead the debriefing during the return coach trip to CDG.
This event is free of charge – participants will just have to cover the costs of their overnight stay (we will cover transfer costs between CDG and Avallon and the dinner costs).
You can find basic information about the visit here.
Participants will generally be responsible for operations/production/quality/strategy in their plant/group of companies.
